LIVE BEFORE IT IS LATE

"Life is very important, but very few people, fail to cherish it until they are faced with death".

I am quite sure you are wondering why I made that statement.

I just got back from a funeral.

A man in my parish died.
A very good man. Everyone who knew him, have lots of good tales to tell about him.

But one question I always ponder in my heart is, why do good people die so young?
Yet the bad ones are enjoying the luxury of a long life.

Well I know some good people live long, but they are very few. Some bad people die young too, just that it is more shocking when a good man dies.

My dear, I barely survived the funeral mass.

I cried uncontrollably through out the program.

The man was not very close to me, neither was I a close friend to his children.

The man was extremely humble, meek and kind hearted.

You might say  "Wow those qualities are too big for one man"
But its the simple truth.

If he wanted to greet me, he would bow his head and shake me with both hands.

Sometimes he was always too quick to say "Good morning" first.

hmmmmmm....

A man who was twice my age, old enough to be my father.
He was a rare gem and a perfect example of a "Sincere Nigerian".

Now you understand why I said I  barely managed to survive the funeral.

At a time I hid my face and put on a dark shade.

My sister was with me, and her face was soaked in tears.
I was supposed  to be the man.
I was supposed to be consoling her, not crying like a baby.

*Smiles*  wEll, there is no hard man when it comes to death, so what I did was natural.

What was more touching was seeing his male colleagues (members of the male organization in the church) carry his body which was in a casket, into the church.

At that point, I whispered to my sister "Those were his friends"
It was heart breaking.

You can imagine.
Well, that is life for you.
Dust we came from, Dust we shall return.

Indeed the End is near, and we will all die one day.
Nor fear sha.
E still far.. lol

On a serious note though,
We should always learn to appreciate those around us.
Most times we take people for granted until they are no more.

When they are dead, everyone starts putting their pictures on different social networks and writing fake tributes whereas they were never  friends, they never spoke for once, not even on phone.

We quarrel over little issues, we keep malice for too long.
We fight over things not worth it, and we envy each other unnecessarily.

The most important thing is to live your life the way you want, and let others live theirs.

Not Everyone can be like you.
Live free, Love free, so that when you are gone, people will only have nice things to say about you.
